Parts Of Digital Photography Lighting Can Be Adjusted

Similar to film photography, digital photography lighting has to be acceptable to the camera in order to obtain a good print. The advantage of shooting with a digital camera is the ability to shoot a seemingly endless number of frames without running out of film. You can shoot pictures with a flash as well as without a flash and choose the one you like the best.

Unfortunately, a picture without a flash may be missing a lot of detail and even with the most sophisticated software, you cannot put it back in because you left it out of the picture from the start. Likewise with the one taken with excessive digital photography lighting if portions of the picture were overexposed or washed out by the bright light, bringing back the detail may be impossible. With today¡¯s software, however it is possible to merge the two images together to even out the two pictures.

Most software allows the picture to be darkened or brightened as well as be adjusted for contrast, but the software cannot add things that are not there to begin with, nor can it remove things that will totally change the rendering of the image. Digital photography lighting must be adjusted prior to the shutter being pressed or you should know how to merge images to bring out the best of both.

You Can Make Your Red Eyes Brown, Again

One common problem with film cameras is red eye, due mostly to the positioning of built in electronic flash units. Digital photography lighting suffers the same consequence with most built-in flash units being located directly above the lens. Many versions of photo software have a means of removing red eye and some can do it automatically. Regardless of your software¡¯s quality, however it can be tricky making sure the eye color is natural.

Many digital cameras, especially the less expensive models, do not fare well in low light conditions and use of its built-in flash is almost a necessity. When shooting indoors under low light, many digital cameras will produce an image that seems out of focus. Using digital photography lighting short of going out and buying a professional set-up, can usually lead to good pictures. If your camera is capable for connecting an external flash unit, have it set up so that it is to one side of the lens and at least two inches above it to help reduce the incidence of red eye.
