Secrets of Nature Photography
There are many ways to take perfect nature photography shots; whether you are an experienced photographer or a beginner, the basics will always remain the same. The following are a few tips that will ensure excellent nature photography without too much trouble.
Nature Photography Is Easy – When You Know How
Light – The best nature photography shots are those that combine unusual colors as reflected by different natural light. Learn to identify the best nuances and when you can capture them. For example, you get morning misty diffused light, mid-day white light and evening red light – each angle giving you a different nuance on the reel.
Angle – There is a lovely rule for the best photographers in the world, i.e. ‘walk ahead and then turn and take a look at what you left behind.’ Many times all you need is another angle of the scenery you just passed by to get a great nature photography shot. Try the shot from many angles and you may discover something extremely special in the most ordinary place – just because the angle is different
De-centralize the subject – Do not always make the subject the centre of your shots. Nature is almost always asymmetrical. Hence, sometimes when you want to get some unusually beautiful nature photography shots, try keeping the subject off center. You will be surprised with the results.
The importance of the distance from the subject – Sometimes it is great to be away from the subject and sometimes you can get mind-blowing picture by getting close. It has been found that in most cases, getting closer is better than getting away. If you have any doubts, take both shots and then check out which one looks better.
Getting close is not always easy – The best nature photography is when the subject is blown to larger-than-life proportions. In order to do that you will need, first of all, a good telephoto lens, a lot of patience and a lot of experience. The right equipment also makes great difference in the end product. A photograph taken through a 600mm lens is much better than a photograph taken through a 200mm lens, which is most popular with beginners.
You too can take great nature photography shots if you keep in mind the above tips. A good technique beats the most expensive camera, so keep trying and learning more if you want some excellent nature photography shots.
