Owner's Manual - Your Free Instructor!
Almost any item with working parts comes with an owner’s manual. This owner’s manual usually gives you instructions on how the item should be assembled, if necessary, and what to do if something should go wrong. A good owner’s manual will also tell you how to use the item for its intended purpose, and any other functions it may have. While they aren’t the easiest things in the world to read, they are essential for any piece of complicated machinery.
You probably have a stack of these in your closet, and if you are lucky, you only had to read through them when the purchased your item. You should always save each owner’s manual you get, and you should keep them all together in a safe place just incase you need them. You may find warranty information as well as information on where to send the item for servicing, or where to buy spare parts or accessories if needed.
One important item that comes with an owner’s manual is your car or truck. These should be kept where you can easily find them, because you will need to refer to them often. This is especially true with newer models because they come with so many new features that it is hard to keep up. There are now mobile phone units and GPS features that are included in the new vehicles. If you have no experience with these items, and most of us don’t, your owner’s manual will be invaluable to you when learning to use the systems.
If you have lost your owner’s manual, and find yourself in dire need of one, you can contact the company to see if they can send you a copy. They will either do this, or they may offer to help you with whatever the problem seems to be. In many cases, you can now find the owner’s manual you need online, and you can download it for use in your own home. You can either save it to your computer, or you can print it out for future use.
If you are striking out with the company when you are in need of an owner’s manual, you can try to find someone else who has one. You might be surprised to find some on eBay, and you might also try to find people with one via classified ads. The chances are low, however, that you will find what you need this way, so make sure you take good care of each owner’s manual you receive.
